Abstract

Technology has become a human need, then in the last few years, Long Term Evolution was created to improve on the previous technology (3G, 2G). Speed in sending, large capacity,  and wide coverage makes Long Term Evolution still used today. Long Term Evolution is also included in wireless telecommunications. A wireless communication system requires a transmitter, receiver, and antenna. An antenna is used to send and receive electromagnetic waves that contain information. Microstrip antenna is the only type of antenna that is widely used. Therefore, this research proposes the design of a microstrip antenna with a rectangular shape that is optimization using the slit and slot method for Long Term Evolution at a working frequency of 1,8 GHz. The slit and slot method aims to widen the bandwidth and increase the gain value of the designed antenna. The type of substrate of the antenna to be selected is FR4-epoxy with dielectric constant = 4,4, substrate thickness (h) = 1,6 mm, and loss tangent (tanδ)= 0,0265. In the simulation results, the measurement is using the slit and slot method on the rectangular patches that work at 1,8 GHz frequency with Return Loss of    -24 dB, the VSWR value of 1,098, the Bandwidth value of 158,6 MHz, and the Gain value of 5,588 dB.
